#MakeTimeForArt: Just Keep Painting

I finally have an answer to the question : ” What do you do on your free time?”

I paint.

I’m having one of those nice Sundays when I don’t have to really go out and have an entire afternoon to my self. After church and a quick errand, I had the whole afternoon to myself and decided to paint again. I have not painted for two weeks already and I wanted to keep my painting mojo going.

I’ve started saving photo inspirations for my next painting project. I still have a lot to learn. Sometimes, I see a painting and tell myself I can paint that and when I do, it turns out to be a different version, my version, and I don’t know if it’s good or bad. Sometimes, I doubt myself if I can actually do it or am I just fooling my self, because how come it appears easy but I cannot entirely copy it? It’s the painting thing that’s curbing my ego once again.

Anyway, for this painting, I used gray as my tonal ground and tried to do a sketch. I have to admit there are a lot of errors while doing the painting. I had a few color mismatch and I had to remedy by piling another color. I thought I had it figured out but I was still wrong. There came a time when I actually think that it might be another painting fail but I kept doing it and  good thing I think I saved it by turning it to my version.

After the finished product, I do not know what to call it. Last night, I watched a portion of the movie Finding Dory, and I remember the famous line:

“Just Keep Swimming.”

And that’s where I found it. I called my fourth painting “Just Keep Painting”. This is to remind myself that something good is going to come out of it.

And you know what? It did.

I hope you had a good Sunday too.
